Share Paper: The Hamburg Netbook Project and its Evaluation by the University of Hamburg

Abstract: The paper presents the evaluation study of the Hamburg Netbook Project, in which several secondary schools in Hamburg employed small, mobile computers to support individualized learning and personalized teaching. Based on a brief theoretical classification of the subject of individualization, and after describing the concept of the project and the methodological design of the scientific study, the main results, conclusions and implications for school practice are outlined. Thereby the identified beneficial and inhibiting conditions are emphasized. The results show the new possibilities for individualized education and the benefits for pupils’ motivation.
