Abstract: Novice online students need mentoring to empower them to be better students as they study and do coursework online. According to Lynch (2002), “ a key role change that faculty must begin to embrace in order to be effective in the online environment is that of facilitator or mentor”(p.1) Mentoring is not easy to accomplish with online students because of the lack of opportunity to be physically together as a class.
