Abstract: Universal design for learning (UDL) is regarded as an effective framework for ensuring equity and responding to the needs of students with disabilities (Higher Education Opportunity Act, 2008). This brief paper will provide background on universal design for learning principles, describe current references to UDL in public policy, and explore the application of universal design for learning in teacher education, with a specific focus on UDL, technology integration and pre-service teacher training programs.
