Abstract: Historically, students in rural America have not had opportunities to have experts, including authors, historians, or scientists visit their classrooms. The use of videoconferencing can help connect these previously disadvantaged students with speakers and cultures they could only once experience in their dreams. This paper will examine a high school history class in rural America and the connection they made by using the videoconferencing tool Skype.
