Share Paper: Creating a Model for Change with Online AP Courses in a Nonschool Hours Charter School

Abstract: This paper will present a model of change that focuses on delivering online Advanced Placement (AP) courses at a “nonschool hours” charter school to Gifted and Talented students living in remote, high poverty and crime areas. The model to offer online AP courses reaches out to students who have given up hope for “advanced courses” due to limited incomes, geographic locations, or lack of out-of-hours academic support and technology.
