Electronic portfolios are the cornerstone of the assessment system of many teacher education programs. While fulfilling functions for the program, we would hope they also held benefits for our students. The authors explore teacher education students’ perceptions of the value of portfolios, specifically examining their views of the reflective skills they developed when creating and sharing portfolios, and how their perceptions change as they move from early in their education program through beginning teaching. Survey results from December 2010 are analyzed and implications are discussed.
