Abstract: This paper addresses a need for going beyond subject matter, pedagogy and technology principles and knowledge in order to create a quality learning environment. The need for a deeper layer of knowledge and understanding is needed. Various approaches to develop a deeper layer are discussed. Character education and dispositions are examined first. Then the growing interest in including spiritual aspects of a learner’s life is discussed. The focus of the paper is on how the spiritual aspect can be integrated into the other aspects of learning and technology use.
