The drumbeat is getting louder, America is falling further behind economically when compared to other countries. In 2005, the National Academies published a report stating that America was is substantial danger of losing its economic leadership and a decline in standard of living resulting in a potential inability to compete. The World Economic Forum has dropped the US to seventh place its nation ranking when considering preparedness to benefit from information technologies. Several years ago, the documentary, 2 million minutes illustrated the differences in teaching and learning in the US, India, and China. The documentary makes the statement about the vast numbers of elite students being produced by third world countries is far exceeding those produced by the United States. Nationally, we have seen more emphasis on STEM and STEM careers. This has occurred through more than a few national reports.
