Abstract: Destiny Quest is a social networking feature that is part of Follett’s Destiny OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog). By using Destiny Quest, teachers are able to teach social networking to students without exposing younger students to unmonitored social networking sites. Using SOAK ( S- safe O- on- topic A- appropriate K- kind), students are able to evaluate what they are posting, as well as what is posted to them. Students are able to friend each other, make book recommendations, and comment on other’s postings. Using Destiny Quest, teachers are also able to monitor student postings, read “abuse” reports, and re- direct students in adequate and appropriate postings.

Conference attendees are able to comment on papers, view the full text and slides, and attend live presentations. If you are an attendee, please login to get full access.
