Abstract: Schools of Education (SOE) are changing how they prepare pre-service teachers for the classroom through online instruction. This study focuses on the implementation of an SOE’s online undergraduate Education Preparation Core (EPC) program in the fall of 2010. Eligible students were invited to take pre/post surveys during the fall semester 2010 to gain insight into their experiences with the newly developed course of study. Pre/post survey data and student and faculty focus group data reveal student expectations for online learning, effectiveness of the EPC course format, and student learning preferences for online learning tools. The findings of this study will inform the program development of the online EPC courses and student preferences for online learning for other SOE programs.
