Abstract: During the Fall of 2010, undergraduate education students engaged in constructing concept maps through a collaborative on-line mapping tool as a means to organize their thoughts around their required readings. The on-line mapping tool provided students with the opportunity to collaborate outside of class in processing key concepts in the reading without having to find common meeting times and locations. I learned valuable insights into how I could more effectively incorporate the use of collaborative on-line concept mapping to improve student learning and extend this technology tool to incorporate the use of metaphors to deepen student understanding of key concepts. ...
