Abstract: Cartoon-based teaching simulation is a training method whereby student teachers create and revise their lesson plans from the viewpoint of learners. This method is expected to encourage student teachers to imagine learners’ perspective more effectively by developing lesson plans in the form of cartoons. Developing lesson plans in such a way enables student teachers to envision the reality of classroom activity in greater detail. This study examines how student teachers considered their lesson plans while describing and reflecting on their cartoons. The results suggest that both drawing and reviewing cartoons enable student teachers to envision the reality of classroom activity in greater detail and that reviewing cartoons is even more crucial in helping student teachers view their lesson plans from the learners’ perspective.
