Abstract: Kaelin’s methodology for an existential phenomenological aesthetic analysis of objects of expressive communication is presented as a context for student multimedia creation. An aesthetic for analyzing and critiquing multimedia as a form of expressive communication provides teachers and students with an approach to assessing the qualitative aspects of multimedia projects for making judgments about the total expressiveness of complex multimedia creations without the constraints currently associated with the creation and application of rubrics.
