Cooperative Community Partnerships: Transforms IT Service-Learning Courses

Abstract: Service-Learning is growing in popularity within educational settings. Students are excited with theory which can be applied into practice that is “real world”. Transforming information technology courses that integrate service-learning affords the opportunity for student a hands-on opportunity. Geriatric community agencies welcome the interaction of students with older adults while providing equipment and instructions. At this session, the instructors will discuss a research project designed around IT service-learning courses, including student training and team work to effectively assist with technology for older adults. The assessment tools will be shared with the audience and the results of this ongoing research project.
