Share Paper: Teachers´ Understanding of Systems Thinking Concepts in a Course on Educational Technology Leadership

Abstract: This presentation gives an analysis of the introduction of systems dynamics concepts to K-12 teachers and other professionals, via a course on leadership in an educational technology Master´s program. The specific systems concepts included ¨systems traps¨ (Meadows & Wright, 2008, Senge, 2006), which are prototypical ways in which systems fail to perform as intended. Further systems concepts were ¨leverage points,¨ which are aspects of a system in which a small change may have a large effect.
