Abstract: Teacher education programs are continually assessing and making changes to teacher candidate preparation. Many universities are implementing practices that allow for greater accessibility to students, both traditional and non-traditional. A southeastern university developed an online elementary education program for K – 8 certification. This session will present information of the development of a science methods course used in the online teacher certification program. An overview of the process of initial course development and the initial implementation procedures will be briefly discussed. The focus of this session will be on the feedback and assessment results from the online elementary science education methods course after it was taught for the first time. Further discussion will be on the changes made to the course. The presenter will discuss the “self-discovered” “Top Ten” tips that will make the development and implementation of an online course more successful.

No presider for this session.
