Abstract: With suitable supports, including low/no-cost technologies and differentiated instruction strategies, students ranging from gifted to those with significant disabilities can receive an appropriate education in general education classrooms. A multilevel instruction system is presented here that is manageable in a standard-based instructional context. Differentiated instruction the can be thought of as serving two broad goals. The first is to maximize attainment of the grade-level general curriculum standards for all students. The second broad goal is to provide adapted curricula for students who need it. An important aspect of the system presented here is differentiating primarily within whole-class activities, avoiding separate, parallel activities as much as possible. Relevant technologies will be demonstrated. Mobile apps to support differentiated instruction will also be addressed.
