Abstract: The purpose of this research is to investigate the synergy effects on the student satisfaction generated by the integration of interesting, intelligent and interactive (i.e., ‘3I’) factors. This research is based on the educational practice of computer literacy courses for liberal arts students of a university in Tokyo. The study goal of the courses was to acquire spreadsheet skills and problem-solving abilities with the use of Microsoft Excel. In the courses, first, an interesting story-based course introduction nurtured students’ curiosity. Secondly, students undertook challenging assignments requiring intelligent answers.
