Abstract: The Energy for ME program partners with ten island and coastal Maine middle and high schools to use technology to measure local and community energy usage, with the goal of providing a better understanding of local energy needs and empowering student knowledge to action, fostering a greater sense of environmental stewardship through the process. This paper discusses the Energy for ME innovations including strategies to facilitate inter-generational learning and to motivate student engagement and meet learning standards through the integration of real-time energy data in the classroom in a local context.
