Abstract: A common challenge facing pre-service teachers is the lack of opportunity to participate in the actual development process of an individual educational plan and the subsequent planning and coordination of the associated multidisciplinary team meeting for a student served by special education. This paper reports on the implementation of an instructional activity that used the virtual world of Second Life as the basis for modeling an IEP multidisciplinary team meeting for pre-service teachers based on a case study. This presentation will share the challenges and experiences of the instructor and the pre-service teachers in this instructional activity.
