Abstract: There are people who do not have access to the use of technology for various reasons. One of the reasons is a lack of access. Some populations in the US do not know about strategies that have been proposed and put forth through the FCC at low cost to solve this problem. We will share strategies that are ways to connect communities and students to the Internet and to incorporate mobile and standard learning technologies.

Objectives

Low cost FCC approved connectivity program through Comcast, who , what when and how to connect to get the Internet at a very low price and a computer buy for about 195.00 a family. Broadband in a community can be measured and the results can be shared with a community school board and the media. We will share the National Broadband plan and show participants how to access and use it as well as M-lab. M-lab is international. Social media networks are a cloud based strategy for use of technology. Facebook has a classroom strategy for teachers to facilitate classroom use of technology using Facebook without students being on the program if they are too young or if use is restricted for other reasons.

Topical Outline

In a transformational society, the use of technology is a need. We will take a look at the whole national picture of broadband and teach participants to measure their broadband speed. We will share low cost ways for getting technology in rural and urban and needy areas. We will share great social media for classroom use, teacher directed. We will share community outreach ideas to involve parents and interested others in learning about mobile technologies. We will share partnering ideas to help with STEM initiatives.
