Abstract: In 2010, a U.S. university received a three-year grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through Higher Education for Development (HED), to support development of a Senegalese university service-learning program aimed at using technology to deliver health education to middle school students in Bambey, Senegal, a rural area, 60 miles east of the capital, Dakar. Digital storytelling is being used to teach middle school students about health education. The digital storytelling project was piloted at a school in Dakar in May 2011, and a teacher-training workshop will be conducted in February 2012.
