Abstract: The paper examines the empirical research in K-12 social studies education from 2005-2011 in an attempt to derive conclusions about the current state of the field and the role of research in providing evidence about effective computer use to teachers and other innovators. Among other characteristics of the reviewed research, this review assesses the extent that authors connect their claims of success or failure to the pedagogical aims of the innovation being studied.
