Abstract: The precollege program for an engineering research center includes participation by middle and high school teachers and students. Renewable energy, the main research thrust for the center, is used as a motivating entryway into engineering for the participants. Gains in self-efficacy and awareness of engineering careers have resulted for teachers and students, along with adoption of new technologies.
