Abstract: Preservice teachers’ lacking teaching experience presents challenges to them when they use technology to solve instructional problems in authentic settings. Modeling is a viable way to compensate preservice teachers’ lack of teaching experience and help them learn how to teach with technology. In this study, to help preservice teachers develop knowledge about teaching with technology, we designed and implemented a live dual modeling strategy which involves both live behavior modeling and cognitive modeling. We investigated what preservice teachers learned from the live dual modeling in a technology integration course and what the problems were when the live dual modeling strategy was used. The preliminary findings showed that preservice teachers demonstrated the initial ability to transfer what they learned in the modeling to real-world classroom teaching. We also discussed the problems found when live dual modeling was used in the course.
