Abstract: Innovation has long been considered a process. However, recent research suggests otherwise. A panel of experts were brought together to define the current definition of innovation. The panel findings revealed that innovation is a random mixture and assortment of five ingredients: exploring, shaping, finding, refining, and sharing; and is embedded in an environment where the practices of organic leadership, failing early - fail often, deferring judgment, intrinsic motivation, prototyping/iteration, role changing, and collaborative autonomy are essential
