Preservice Teachers Create Online Lessons to Teach Content and Learn Pedagogy

Abstract: Teachers in the 21st century will teach with digital course materials in digital environments. Teacher preparation programs face a daunting task to adequately prepare candidates to be successful in this rapidly changing educational environment. Preservice teachers who create online lessons for their peers learn powerful pedagogies, technologies, and educational content, and thus may be better prepared to educate the next generation of students. This paper introduces the philosophy and technology behind this instructional practice.
