Abstract: Mechanical engineering systems and products are crucial for increasing the pace of development in our country, India. Our country requires good quality of mechanical graduates. The quantity of mechanical graduates is on rise, but quality is being questioned by employers in our country. The situation may worsen in the days to come. It is appropriate at this juncture to get perceptions for curricula related abilities being developed in fresh graduates. This study is an attempt to obtain perceptions on extent of development of technical abilities developed through curricula about mechanical engineering course in fresh gradates from the industry and graduates itself. Both graduates and industry agree that the curricula related technical abilities are developed up to knowledge level only. Fresh graduates are not able to apply the theoretical knowledge in industry or social life, thereby analysing & providing solutions for real life problems is not happening. This is the main cause of worry for industries that ready to work graduates are not coming out of education system.
