Abstract: Ebooks are becoming more common every day, and while much investigation has been done concerning their application as textbooks, this project examined a committee member’s reading and annotating of dissertations in ebook formats. While some issues did occur, ebook devices, such as the Kindle and iPad’s iBooks were found to be effective in allowing a dissertation committee member to read and make notations within the text of the ebook. Additionally the ebook format added convenience and cost savings, along with allowing for notation summaries to be exported for the dissertation author’s use.
