Value-Added Computer Science (CS) Model: A Constructionist Approach for Integrating Subject Content and Computer Science in Game Design Project
Abstract: A value-added computer science (CS) model is described to illustrate the potential of game-based and project-based learning from a constructionist perspective when integrating subject content in a computer science environment. The model provides a framework for integrating instructional supports and game elements into game design projects. The framework includes eight steps, integrating game elements, instructional support, and game design phases. A sample of the model was provided for using Scratch software to learn the Pythagorean Theorem in a game design project. Recommendations for further research and practices are provided.
