Share Paper: Introducing Green Computing to General Education

Abstract: This paper describes an experience with the development and the use of a module that introduces green computing concepts to college students in a course focused on general education. The module, initially developed for computing majors, was redesigned to respond to the needs of the diverse undergraduate population and can be further adapted for inclusion in the high school curriculum. The module’s delivery with the IT students resulted in increased understanding of the concepts and in a raised awareness on the impact computing has on the environment.
