Abstract: This paper presents the results of a qualitative study exploring the use of video and video production as a response to literature. As part of the English Literature Arts curriculum at a high school in the Midwestern United States, students independently read a book of their choosing in order to complete a character analysis. Rather than assigning the traditional written analysis, the teacher required students to demonstrate their understanding of the main character in their chosen book through the creation of a video analysis.
