Abstract: Recently the Horizon report noted that mobile media learning is fast becoming a relevant media for learning (Johnson et al, 2011). In addition, innovative teachers across the country are starting to design uses for mobile that leverage place for learning (Dikkers, Martin, Coulter, 2012). This session highlights nine of these stories as examples of innovative new practices that are amplifying learning opportunities in schools, on field trips, parks, museums, libraries and in urban areas. Research data was collected from nine purposefully sampled educators (n=9) in open-ended interviews allowing educators to share their experiences. Analysis across cases sought common themes, outlier narratives, and concerns for future mobile development.
