Sound the Bugle for New Uses of Google: Utilizing the Best New Tools for Collaboration, Creativity, and Productivity

Abstract: This Best Practices session will demonstrate some of the newest features of Google, such as Google Drive, Education Apps, Photo Editing, as well as a variety of strategies utilizing the collaborative features of Google Docs. The strategies shared will be applicable to K-12 teachers and college faculty who are looking to increase their technology integration skills. Educators teaching on-line who are looking for some fresh ideas and ways to increase engagement and collaboration will benefit also. Participants will be shown that they do not need to purchase expensive tablets to be able to access the apps for the Android market and instead, with a Google account, you are able to download the apps to your homepage. Additionally, participants will be shown the benefits of could computing via Google Drive as well as be shown ways to enhance learning in the classroom through Google’s collaborative features. Finally, several creative and collaborative programs will be demonstrated, such as photo editing, presentations, documents, and surveys.
