Abstract: This proposal details an ongoing research study that uses online simulations of the condition of schizophrenia in an attempt to increase empathy in preservice teachers of students with special needs. Teacher candidates take a pretest about schizophrenia, view a video and experience a Second Life destination simulating the condition. Students take a pretest following the simulations.
