Developing Technology-Infused Professional Learning Experiences for Teachers and Administrators: Considering the Educational Context

Abstract: The teaching profession is under tremendous pressure to change. Professional development provides the theoretical and practical tools for teachers make changes in their school environments, and it is imperative, therefore, to continue researching the critical components of the professional development process. This symposium, led by a research and professional development center at a major university in the northeastern United States, highlights five recent initiatives that represent the Center’s emerging model for situated professional development within different educational contexts. The first hour of the symposium describes the design process as a key element of professional development for technology integration. The second hour of the symposium explores leadership as a key element of professional development for technology integration.
