Abstract: This paper reports on a preliminary study conducted in a course that was designed to help graduate students complete their Master’s thesis/project. The research questions were: (1) Did the use of collaborative learning and cooperative learning support completion of the students’ Master’s thesis/project from student points of view? (2) To what extent did the use of collaborative learning and cooperative learning support completion of the students’ Master’s thesis/project? The data collected for the research project consisted of interview data from students. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. In addition to presenting the research results, the author will also discuss strategies on helping students with their master’s project/thesis, for example, action research, scopes or types of master’s project/thesis for full-time graduate students versus for full-time professionals (e.g., full time in-service teachers) and graduate students.
