Digitizing History: Integrating Technology and Web 2.0 Tools in Social Studies Classrooms
Abstract: This presentation engages participants in a discussion of the outcomes of an ongoing university and school district collaborative to offer effective professional development that provides social studies teachers with opportunities and ideas for integrating technology and Web 2.0 tools into their practices in an effort to promote higher standards of curriculum, instruction, and student achievement. It includes explorations of emerging Web 2.0 technologies to enhance teaching and learning in social studies classrooms as well as findings and discussion regarding how to empower teachers and their students to produce, rather than just consume, technology-based learning activities for their classrooms.
