The Use of Adobe Connect with Rural Appalachian Students in an Upward Bound Program
Abstract: This paper is a report on the use of Adobe Connect with Rural Appalachian students in an Upward Bound program. Selected students who participate in the Federal government sponsored program Upward Bound; need to have a ubiquitous learning environment that would allow them access to valuable resources and mentors via the internet at their convenience. The challenge of providing students with a ubiquitous learning environment is an issue that affects many students in the Appalachian region. While areas near larger cities may benefit from accessible internet connectivity, some remote locations in rural Appalachia may not have the same technological support and access. This paper is a continuation of an earlier project that sought to look at the advantages and disadvantages of using Adobe Connect. This study will be reflective of the usage of Adobe Connect by members of the Upward Bound program.
