Facebook use across a teacher education program - a snapshot of networks
Abstract: This paper gives an overview of Facebook pages used as platforms for communication and professional support within one teacher education program at an Australian university. The paper shows how an initial Facebook page led to other pages and created a network that covers various student-to-student and faculty-to student relationships. This pilot study indicates that there are advantages and disadvantages connected to individual types of Facebook pages used in this context, and that further research needs to be conducted to harness the potential of Facebook as a teaching and support tool in teacher education programs
