Abstract: Research is a necessary part of teaching. How does one encourage vital and stimulating research into traditional teacher education? Some states have taken the approach with graduate education; others have instituted undergraduate research programs. Our institution has used both these methods AND action research for elementary traditional teacher candidates through a Professional Partnership Network (PPN). This roundtable discussion will present lessons learned and tips in the following: motivation for undergraduates and their cooperating teachers in research, teaching the process of research, action research values for both teacher candidates and cooperating teachers, technology tools to assist in action research, and dissemination of research in schools.
