Abstract: The combination of online courses and open educational resources is a new trend in distance education. With the supporting of open educational resources, developers are able to create online courses with various contents, e.g., online articles, videos, images, and learning activities to enrich the course design. Among different type of online courses, language course is always a challenge for instructional designers and course developer to create an efficient language course in a cyber-environment. This paper will introduce how we conduct synchronous and asynchronous online language practice sessions and different multimedia resources that we adopted to support the language courses. It will show how current language learning theories underlie these interactive learning tools so as to engage students and more effectively inculcate language skills.
