Abstract: In this best practices session, the presenter will discuss strategies for teaching high school students in the online learning environment. The presenter will highlight ways to teach effectively, thus providing for authentic learning in the non-traditional learning environment. The presenter will share collaboration tools that will allow all participants to leave with a myriad of ideas. Student collaboration in an engaging, interactive environment is a key component of Common Core Standards. We will focus on learning strategies, as related to Common Core, as well as lessons learned from several years of experience that have proven to have a positive impact on student learning and engagement. With large numbers of students attending our live lesson learning opportunities weekly, teachers have learned what works well for high school students. Participants can expect to leave this session with ideas and strategies for effective “live” instruction in a virtual format.
