Abstract: The purpose of this mixed methods study is to examine the extent to which factors affect faculty perceptions of online learning as experienced by faculty at a public university in a small metropolitan area in Texas. This exploratory design has two phases: The first phase of the study was a quantitative survey given to university level faculty members. The second phase consisted of a qualitative assessment with individual interviews of those who took the survey to gain additional insights and perspectives of the faculty. From this initial exploration, the qualitative findings were used to develop measures that can be administered to a larger population. This exploratory approach brings greater insight into the factors that influence faculty perceptions of online learning.
