Abstract: In this presentation we will discuss the way in which a Futures Thinking approach guided revisions of Namibia's ICTs in Education standards expected of K-12 teachers. We used it as a framework for identifying and rectifying shortcomings of the original standards: to improve coherence with other national policies and educational objectives (e.g. learner-centered education), address discrepancies between the standards and the realities in Namibian classrooms (currently and in the foreseeable future), and to provide teachers with a better understanding of their role in preparing students for participation in a knowledge society.
