Abstract: Twitter, a micro blogging, social media tool which has become part of the mainstream conversation is having an impact on politics, media, business and education. The authors begin with a description of the growing popularity of Twitter and the influence that it is having across disciplines in general, and the field of education in particular. With the help of vignettes the authors illustrate how a university professor is using Twitter to engage pre-service and in-service education professionals across three different programs, in higher level thinking and reflective practice, both in the field as well as the classroom. They conclude with an invitation to K-12 and higher education faulty to explore the pedagogical possibilities of Twitter.
