Abstract: Video capture of lectures and other classroom sessions can now be done easily and inexpensively. Recent software development enables the viewer to dynamically zoom into portions of the captured image such as the board or the screen. This paper describes the experience at SUNY Institute of Technology in setting up, deploying, and modifying the ClassX system for capturing undergraduate and graduate classes in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. Findings include widespread use by students, most frequently to view class sessions that they had missed attending.
