Design and Development of An Interactive Course Builder for the iPad

Abstract: Instructors design their online courses for recruitment, retention, implementation, and long-term sustainability (Betts and Heaston, 2014). This paper and presentation focuses on an innovative design approach, developing a course for the iPad with supporting content management system. Findings indicate that participants, who had access to an existing LMS or CMS, were able to navigate through eCourse Builder without difficulty. We were able to identify interface design issues and re-design for an intuitive interface. As a work-in-progress, eCourse Builder allows instructors to build their course(s) using a drag-and-drop method to obtain final results.
