Teacher Transformation: The 4 T's of Becoming a Digital Educator
Abstract: There are four critical elements required for successful teacher technology transformation: Time, Tools, Training, and Teamwork. These 4 T’s are interdependent, and if the integral connectivity among the elements is missing, if only one element is isolated as the priority, or if even only one element is missing, efforts and resources intended to support teacher development will be less effective at best, or in the long term, ineffective altogether. It is the integration of these key elements that is the hinge that swings the door wide open to successful technology integration and teacher skill development. This 4 T’s theoretical framework offers new definitions of four fundamental components of teacher development and posits their critical symbiotic relationship. This framework works across a wide range of contexts including learning environments with veteran teachers, pre-service teachers, and university faculty.
