Abstract: There is growing recognition of the importance of early mathematics learning to develop quantitative thinking skills, and while efforts to improve in-classroom mathematics learning is important, there is also evidence that supporting children in learning early mathematics in informal environments through structured, supported engagements between children and their parents and caregivers is a promising strategy (Starkey, Klein, & Wakeley, 2004).
